In November 2022 Nepal Without Limits team successfully summited Mera Peak, which at 6, 476 m (21,831 ft) is considered the highest trekking peak in the Himalayas. After the climb we trekked to Ram’s home town village of Wapsa Khani. We spent time with the students of Basic School who earlier in the year were equipped with uniforms, shoes and backpacks. During that visit, Nepal Without Limits also provided uniforms and school supplies to 150 students in two additional schools in nearby villages. We also met with the staff and toured a local hospital for which we sponsored some medical supplies during the Pandemic.

MERA PEAK CLIMB AND VISIT TO WAPSA KHANI VILLAGE
LIFE IN THE VILLAGE
During our two day stay in Wapsa Khani, we visited Ram’s parents and met some of his aunts and uncles. The village is beautiful. It’s full of lush vegetation of flowers, bamboo and rhododendron trees. Bananas, oranges, tomato trees, cardamon and coffee are grown there as well. People are lovely and kind, but living conditions are harsh.

OUR NEXT PROJECT
During 2023 Wapsa Khani Elementary School will remain our focus as we are planning to raise enough funds to be able to replaster and paint the walls in the school, create a kindergarten room and a library.
FUTURE TREKS AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Our next visit to the village is planned for 2024. It will be combined with a trek to Tilicho Lake, which at at 4919 m (16, 138 feet) is considered the highest lake in the world. In 2025 we hope to return to the village as our plan is also to organize a trek to the sacred Mount Kailash in Tibet. Please consider joining us for one of those treks. In addition to monetary contributions we are also looking for volunteers, willing to spend some time in the village assisting teachers as during our visit they expressed a desperate need for fluent English speakers.
